engine noise

hi guys
Ive got a 1999 BMW E46 318i (M43B19 engine) , my problem is when the car iddles or get driven slowly there is no problem but the moment I push it just a little, the engine makes a knocking noise like a small-end knock or something, but when driven below 3000 rpm there is no noise. What can this be? Please help?

Check all your mountings (engine and gbox, exhaust) and the propshaft.

Question, if you just rev it standing still till 3000rpm does it still make the noise or is it only when you drive?

the noise is there even when the car is reved without driving, but somtimes it comes on 3500 and other times only on 5000 rpm, but while driving and the car takes torque its just after 300 rpm

Hard to say bud it could be the onset of a bearing knock at that high rev...any indication as to where the noise is coming from i.e sump gearbox...??

dat defnitely sounds like a bearing knock boet,is the power down or is it still da same,it could also be ur knock sensor that is faulty:thumb:
