Hi guys!
As per my previous post , My cars going in on Tuesday , to have its sump gasket replaced as well as dipstick O ring , Oil service and Brake fluid service .

I had asked them to clean out the oil pan as well as the oil pump mesh as suggested here. They tell me that they normally clean out the Oil pan , and will look into the oil pump ( they tell me I have some compensating shaft and pump or something like that ) .

Anyway , while or before this is done , My cars never had an engine oil flush, Im not sure if they had ever given it a flush while on motor plan , but I know after motor plan , its never had a flush .

They tell me that I may not need it , its mostly for those who don't replace their oil as often or really messy engines , and from replacing my Valve stem seals a month or two I think and based on my cars service records that they have they tell me it looked clean .

But my cars never had it done , Should I also have them flush the engine?
my mileage is now 215 300 kms Oil services were generally never prolonged. Im not sure , if they flush the engine , will it clean it out of any dirt that may be in there?

Would I have problems later on ?

Thanks for advice !

I would run it with clean oil for a few 1000km then flush on the next oil change. You can use an engine flush every second oil change its meant to gradually clean the engine and not remove all the gunk at once. I started flushing my 325i after 300 000km and never had an issue, it won't hurt the engine, and rather use it as a preventative precaution instead of waiting for sludge buildup then flush :=): as to what you can use to flush? Ive used diesel, atf aswell as off the shelf products on my own car and many other cars with no issues so thats upto you :coolShake:

The Bmw Mech actually told me that diesel is the best, He said 1 and a half liters , Run it till the engine is warmed up , don't drive it to long , then remove the oil .
He said that's what he uses on his cars, Maybe I should add some diesel in before dropping it off in the morning ? Car will warm up by the time I reach the dealership. As they are doing an oil change anyway . The car has had an oil change at 204 000 kms when they did the valve stem seals , then it had another one at around 210 000kms and now its going to have another one with its mileage at 215 000kms

Would that be a good idea to do for now , drop in diesel before driving it to them? As the oil will be flushed and replaced anyway.

Sounds good ive found diesel to be very effective on engines with major sludge buildup 1 1/2 liters is a bit excessive. I wouldn't put in more than a liter for a 6 cylinder. How many km away is the workshop you going to? Ive never driven a car with diesel in the engine ive always poured it in when cold let it idle till warm and give it a few revs then switch off and let it drain.

And whatever you put in, the amount, you need to remove of the old oil first so that you don't have too much oil in the engine.

Distance is about 11kms . Can I siphon out the oil from the oil dipstick tube? Would save me from having to go under the car and removing it from the drain plug. Worst comes to worst I will let them do it. My cars a 4 cylender , so will maybe put in about half a little?

You can try and get some oil out through the dipstick tube, but I suspect that it is going to be a bit time consuming, so maybe easier to just drain some from the sump (engine doesn't have to be warm in this case)...
