Engine fault code reader for OBDI e36

Does any one know where I can buy a fault code reader for my 1998 e36 328i? It is not OBDII - I have already been the route of buying the 20 pin converter cable and that ELM 327 interface and Torque to run on an android device. It does not work for this vehicle.

Any advice please?

I imported a Peake reader from the agents in England a while ago and used it successfully on, amongst others, a 1998 E36 318iS.
