Engine Cleaning

Hi Guys, I took the Plastic Cover off to take a Peek at My 330d Engin and was shocked. Especially since the Car went for a Service less then 2 months ago in May. Most of the Engin was covered in dust, dirt and what appear to be old oil. Can I use my local Machie to Clean the Engin or should I take it to the dealer. Just a little worried about water damage...!:rollsmile:
