Engine change.

I want to change my bmw 320i e90 engine to that of an e90 M3. Are there any problems I need to prepare myself for when doing this and is it more costly than just selling my car to get a deposit for a 2008 m3? I have been saving money for quite some time now so that I can make my car brand new again and also get it to perform better than most of the new Aud's. Racing challenges I get on the road these days are getting out of control. :blueCry: I simply want my beast to be better and faster. And sound better too.

Dont build what you can buy.

People dont just buy an M car for the Engine. There are lots of other things like suspension, brakes, diff, gearbox, interior. It will cost you more to build one.

Putting an e90 m3 v8 into your 320i will likely cost more than buying a clean used 2008 m3

Why would you want to do a swop?

Have you done all the calculations of cost? Labour? Parts? Wiring harnesses?uprated brakes? Brake Lines? Gearbox? Suspension? Possibly different engine mounts? Fab work? You see where this is heading...

The forum seems to have alot of guys wanting to change motors.

I don't think guys really know what it takes into swapping a complete engine, especially when it is not common in that model. it is NOT easy and NOT cheap.

A very good E90 M3 motor and gear box and diff will probably cost the same as a cheap 320 complete.

Dont build what you can buy.

People dont just buy an M car for the Engine. There are lots of other things like suspension, brakes, diff, gearbox, interior. It will cost you more to build one.

Jus buy the x35's motor for sale on Gumtree instead, to be honest, if you wanted speed, M3 devil sold his modded 335 for dirt cheap, you probly missed it, there are lots out there...think carefully, don't try to reinvent the wheel:cartel:
