End of MotorPlan

My Motorplan on my 2010 X1 2.0d is about to expire. Any suggestions on aftemarket warrantee options/companies that give a reasonable product. I am not paying the price that BMW wants to charge me to extend my MotorPlan.

I think you are better off just putting money aside each month for this than going for an aftermarket serviceplan/warranty - they usually only pay a portion the total cost when things break. But hopefully more recommendations will be added... :thumbs:

There are quite a few insurance companies willing to offer a decent deal to maintain the car.

But again the question remains, would you rather pay them a monthly fee only to get a small portion of your initial "investment" back or rather invest the same amount in Satrix and get 96% of your money+interest earned back when you need it?

I just got a quote from Liqiud Capital. On my specific car (2010 X1, 2.0d Auto) with my warrantee expiring in 1200km's they charge R438.00 per month for 2 years. That is unlimited coverage for all the major mechanical and electrical components. That sounds damn reasonable to me.
Has anybody here ever dealt with them ?

Make sure you read the fine print - I had a similar policy with Hollard for my LR Discovery 3 and most of the repairs I needed were not covered.

2010 model with an expiring plan in early 2014?

What is your current mileage?

when a plan for time only is ~R10k, and keeps the value of our vehicle up.

+1 on the fine print. DO NOT just accept anything.

Have you considered adding the price of the plan from BMW onto the balance of your car's financed amount? May be cheaper...

Looks like he is running short on KM which is usually quite an expensive extension (especially when you're doing roughly 25k per year)

I know of two people who have been declined cover by motorite (both engine damage) I had an old warranty with SA warranties they paid out 5k when my old aircon compressor broke. So it paid for itself.

Honestly I think you're better off saving the cash and tucking some aside each month.

I got a quote from BMW, and it amounts to an additional R945-00 p/m on top on my finance amount - that is for an additional 1 year Motorplan. I must admit, I did play with the idea of just saving that money in a savings account, because the 2.0d engine is quite reliable - but what if??
I do about 30 000km's per year, and my car is currently on 103 000 kms.
