Put it this way. They are not needed. e46s have them, e90s dont. It has something to do with how it swirls the air? They have been known to break off and then things are not pretty. For piece of mind they should just be removed.

You however do not have swirl flaps as you don't have a diesel.

EGR is exhaust gas recirculator. Which recirculates exhaust gas to cut down emissions. Getting rid of it will make temps drop slightly. Which I suppose would give better reliability and fuel economy.

Sorry if any of the information I have given is incorrect I am still learning.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation
It was introduced to meet new emission specs in Europe
Not needed for our country

Con: your emissions go up a bit.... (who cares)
Pro: you save about 0.5l - 1.0l Diesel per 100km

You can do it manually and block the EGR off or you can do it electronically and it's closed all the time

Cost: R1350 at Promotec

Will doing the EGR delete via software only prevent the water block issue as well?

Thanks guys...!

Appreciated!!!

I had swirl flaps on my Audi A3 2.0 FSI, and they caused very rough idling when they broke of and kicked down.
