So I decided to do a little test yesterday. I reset my average fuel consumption and proceeded with my 60km commute back home from work. On the highway I had my cruise control set to 100km/h in 6th gear cruising in the slow lane.

This is the lowest I managed to achieve for a good few km's:

This was just after I took my off ramp:

This was my net average from work to home:

The off ramp is about 5km from home with a decent amount of traffic and all the robots that I got to were red:yuck:

This morning I didn't reset my consumption but when I got to work it was:

Now I think if it wasn't for the start up and warm up increase in consumption this morning it would've been a bit lower. It increased by about 0.5l by the time it warmed up.

My tank range is currently showing 830km:

I normally average around 700 off a tank 80% highway 20% town. Not too bad for a 6cylinder if you ask me:rollsmile:

HAHA, same day!! nice one.

Lol yeah I noticed that too. I was gonna post this last night but my internet was too slow to upload pics:yuck:

I'm gonna reset my consumption when I leave work today and set my cruise control to 130 and see what the outcome will be:rollsmile:

Can you do the actual calc when you fill up again. I have found that my OBC reading differs about 20% to the actual calculation at the pump. The OBC gives a better result then actually achieved.

Had a flat 5l/100km the other day and it came out to 6l/100km (16,5km/l) at the pump. 2003 320d.

I did the calculations some time back and the OBC was spot on. For my weekly commutes I get around 700 off a tank and normally fill around 60-63l with the OBC showing average consumption of between 9-9.5. This includes town driving in between.

can you reset your consumption figure without disconntecting the battery?

If so, how?

Press and hold the BC button on the indicator stalk. No need to disconnect the battery.

How is that even possible?? I get about 450k's on a tank, 13.3l/100. BMW 325ci, well granted its an auto, but that can't explain it.

depends on the topography of your route.
13.3 is very high though. I get 10.8 mixed, spirited driving the 335.

There are a lot of factors to take into account. The main ones IMO is your driving style (heavy vs light foot) and highway vs town driving. I got those figures with a very light foot and mostly highway driving. I could be mistaken, but the Ci may also be a bit heavier than the sedan. The fact that you have an Auto box also makes a difference. Also Coast vs. Altitude makes a difference. I'm at the coast which I find is a bit heavier than at altitude, but at altitude it comes at the expense of performance.

Just an update. I filled up yesterday. Got a bit carried away with the last quarter that was left in my tank and managed to get 715km with 70km tank range left when I filled up:rollsmile: If it wasn't for my heavy foot I think I could've gotten around 850 off my tank quite comfortably:rollsmile:

I only fill up with Engine Primax 95 Unleaded btw. I find I get slightly better consumption than when I was using BP.
