Easy way to reset the service indicator?

Was wondering if there's an easy fool-proof way to reset the service counter after one has done a service?

I saw an article on the web, but it involved items from "Radioshack" and getting certain resistance items etc. Was wondering if there's a "boer maak 'n plan" workaround with something off the shelf?

I am assuming you are looking for a method for an e36?

try this...all you need is a paper clip; it worked on mine:

Hey Gpgold,

I noticed the "Inspection" indicator has come on. As I understand BMWs have two types of service, an oil service and and inspection service? I'm not sure what the difference is between the two... I presume you'd always replace your oil at each service interval.

Anyhow, if I look at the details of the last service, it seems pretty complete - air/fuel filters, plugs, oil etc.

Does this mean the wrong service indicator was reset?
