Performed the simplest upgrade on earth today, converted an E36 316 (another one!) from mechanical to electrical fan. Came in overheating, cools fine when on the open road, but cooks in traffic. Turned out the viscous coupling on the fan had packed up, loose and floppy. Unscrewed the whole thing, fitted a secondhand electric 2 speed fan, plugged it in and done! All the wiring is there, plug and play. :rollsmile:

If I only had stock, could have a ball! Altogether I have 7 316s, E36 and E46, also a couple of E90s, mostly belonging to govt. employees who have no idea. Lots of that other high class German marque also, but I don't go there. No car sales place here either! As for the 6s, I'm sure there's a fan that fits, I used a genuine BMW fan this time, but fakes are available for all models.:rollsmile:
