E9X bearings

Yup just for the bearing bud. The service advisor said she has regular customers who do them routinely every 90k km.

No, haha! I don't even own a BMW, let alone a M car. I dropped the wife's Mini off this morning at the dealer and made a quick inquiry.
Okay, but is that for the ROD bearings only or for ROD and MAIN bearings.

These are two different bearings.

Everyone knows about the rod bearing issues, but it seems that the main bearing is either just a new issue, which no one seems to have picked up, or it's just being ignored, as this is likely going to be significantly more costly to do and will inherently affect resale values of these cars.

BMW Bloemfontein quoted today to do the bearing only R50k - R60k.
This is a rough estimate that is off the mark. The rob bearings (the part) don't cost more than R20k... it is the labour that is expensive plus the other smaller items which brings it to about R40k or R45k max. You get the true cost once the car is physically assessed. It's a case by case basis to a certain extent.

The issue of the main bearing is not yet well documented which means it is not as common a problem as the rod bearings hence this is the only 1 popular (or recent) video on YouTube on this issue.

I can say with 99% certainty it would only be for rod bearings. Main bearings will be a motor out job and the cost will be substantial.

N54 swapped E92s coming to you soon??? Scary to see this. Can't imagine having this fear factor on top of rod bearings...
Yup...unless there is a major market price correction, I've completely given up on buying a E9x M3. The FCP Euro video makes it even scarier in that the bed plate requires a special sealant. Are private workshops going to actually follow this step?

You now essentially need to pull the motor out and drop probably over R100k in parts. You will however then be bullet proof for a long time after that.

Finding a workshop that is going to do everything 'by the book' is another story.

will never be *BULLET PROOF* as you'll still need to redo rod bearings in 60-100k kms...
