Ok, some more pics of the vanos solenoid seal replacement...

Guys, whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM CASTROL!!! The amount of gunk I had to fish out of the solenoids is worrysome.

The outlet solenoids

And cleaned with new orings

Where they fit on the motor

And one of the inlet solenoids, check the gunk on the mesh filter

And cleaned with new orings

Just a top tip, I douse all the orings and the parts they mate to with oil before fitment. In the case of the solenoids, I also dipped their whole bodies in oil before fitting back into their positions. This ensures that you don't hurt the orings when you put them back, and to make sure you don't damage the machined surfaces should the metal of the solenoid touch the surface.

Yes I'm being a little anal :)

Ok, last pics for today - not sure when I'll have a full day to play :)

Breathers and Cam sensors cleaned

And installed on the cylinder head cover

Underside of the Cylinder head covers - they looking a little bit better than before

Lastly, the oil filter housing nicely cleaned as well.

Finally I'm done with the motor, and it's nicely cleaned now as well.

Once it's all dry I'll tackle the throttle bodies and clean them nicely as well.

Next after that would be cleaning the transmission and then the engine bay.

I should be ready to get it installed next weekend I think ;)

Finally! I had a little time to spend on my pet project today. The engine bay is now clean and so is the transmission.

The engine bay was a mission as I couldn't tackle it with my power washer. So it was involved spraying Prepsol, rigorous use of a brush and then carefully spraying water. Little by little...
