Thanks gents. Much appreciated! The sad thing is that all this effort will pretty much go unseen once it's all put together. But as I said before, this is a car I want to keep and should I sell, people here can see the amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into this car.

Anyway, some more pics :=):

Compare the two pictures:

And some random pics now that I'm done with the engine bay. I've also got the whole underside of the engine bay cleaned as well

The bonnet catch looked pretty bad and showed heavy signs of rust.

I've replaced this with a brand new catch as I would never get the old catch to look good. You can also see that the whole underside of the bonnet has been properly cleaned

I now have to take the back wheels off and get all of that cleaned up, then I can start to reassemble the car.

Not jinxing!! Jus shows how tidily you work, it's not easy stripping bumpers headlights etc... Esp on a car you've not done before. Good work!

Thanks again gents. It really is pretty fulfilling playing around with this project.

Got a present delivered just now

The guys at Shield Panelbeaters do some really, really fantastic work! Their prices are reasonable and they work pretty fast. Now I'm finally rid of the horrible bumper that was on my car!

Now that I've received the bumper, I couldn't resist test fitting the other present Hussain brought me the other night. Maaaaaan, I'm getting real excited to get this finished now!

Almost there...

New air cleaner installed

And the engine bay now finished

The front just about finished. Just have to install all the belly plates. I've also PlastiDipped the front grill just to freshen them up a bit.

And for all those non believers, the car does start :rollsmile:. It should be noted that each and every component in the engine bay is no cleaned. Even all the air ducts and piping has been properly cleansed. During this process I've also become a lot more intimate with the workings of the engine and where all the bits and bobs are located. I'm now a hell of a lot more confident to work on the car.

Lastly, the rear end has been cleaned as well. I'm waiting for everything to dry out and then fit the bumper. Hopefully that'll also be painless.

I'm not going to get around cleaning up the rear suspension or the cavity under the belly of the car, I think that can wait for a bit. I've not spent any time at all on the interior as I hoped, but again that can wait. I just wanna get behind the wheel and drive a little; I've spent more time working on it than driving it which kind of sucks...
