e92 m3 motor plan cancelled

ah ok bru! yes i remember, love your car man. :inlove: you had the vossen on though right?

that is hectic, very worrying, i did plenty research on this and on the online forums it doesnt seem to be a problem. It hasnt stopped my paranoia though, it is resulting in me not being comfortable with my car at all times since i am always listening for sounds or imaging things happening that dont. Saw on m3post also that guys were saying the same, no V8 M3 driver will be comfortable again based on these types of stories...

no bloody ways an over rev can cause a bearing knock... thats an oil delivery/pressure problem...

if you happen to bang it from 4th into 3rd when aiming for 5th you will bend valves... not run bearings...

i would ask them for an answer regarding this approach and see what they say...

when i used to build mx bikes the most common problem was guys bending exhaust valves when they took a jump with the bike/quad and stepped on the gear level when they landed... bent valves, no bearing knocks... they are talking CRAP!!!

why is it then that a std m20 motor can be revved to way beyond 9000rpm when the valve springs and valve gear are upgraded???

same with the M50/M52 motors...
and none of them run bearings...

possible causes:
1 - crap oil that breaks down under high temps caused by high rpm, faulty or blocked oil cooler?
2 - oil cavitation from a low oil level, sucking air and loosing oil pressure as a result
3 - incorrect bearing clearances allowing too much oil past resulting in a drop in oil pressure
4 - blockage in the system restricting oil flow
5 - debris caught in the oil pressure control valve causing insufficient oil pressure.

there are a few more but the point is that none of these are what were mentioned as possible causes...

what condition were the journals in the head? as this is the last point of the motor to receive oil pressure and therefore the most likely to develop score marks.

there are many ways to bring them to book with this and throw mud in their faces...

what viscosity oil are they using in the motor and has it fallen within our climate range? i know Honda had this issue with the type-r as the oil they were using was way out of the requirements that Honda Japan had requested... this was the best oil castrol had to offer at the time. but the oil was used because Honda SA has a contract with castrol...

personally im disgusted with this motorplan kak, when you buy a new BMW ask them to remove the cost of the mp and sp from the price (cpa requires they list them separately) and then you pay for the service etc as and when you need to... and you can do whatever the hell you like with YOUR car that YOU have paid for with YOUR own money...its like you buy my house but i tell you what time you can bath or go take a dump... come on okes...really....:nonono:

Sorry guys, haven't been on here in ages. And the updates are as follows:

1. Car repaired by a friend of mine who is a bmw specialist.
2. Cost me 60k of my own money, thankfully my friend didn't charge me labour.
3. I didn't go to court with bmw because my lawyer advised me not too as he did a similar case to mine before this and he said after proving car was not modified, bmw claimed that the vehicle was miss used and abused and I could very well be wasting a 100k by going to court. So used the same money to repair my car.
4. After this event with my vehicle, my friend who repaired my car and I started paying attention to the e9x m3 and already came accross 11 m3's with. Bearing failure, 3 of which bmw has repaired and 8 motorplans kicked out.
5. When I went into the dealership to pick up my car and take her home for repairs, a F10 M5 arrives on a towtruck with bearing failure at 14000km.
6. All my friends and I have moved away and most of sold or currently still selling our bmw's and will never touch the brand ever again.
7. I'm happily taking delivery of a mercedes cla45 next year.
8. Bmw called me up asking if I'd like to test drive a new M3 when it arrives and that called ended nasty.

And last but not least, if any bmw technicians or anyone from head office is reading this thread, I'd just like to say, your'll all are a bunch of a$$hole$$

Thanks to to everyone for their support and advise, I appreciated every bit of it.
I would disagree with your lawyer. They had to prove that you abused the vehicle. Not that you did not abuse it.

Agree. You had to fight with them. I know a guy who at a stealership in the cape and he told me of a customer who came in with a 320d out of plan engine packed up and fought with them until they have in end of it all they agreed to give parts and just had to pay for labour.

@ Sash did you run NOS in you m3?

Also to my knowledge the rev limit for the m is 8000rpm.

I see you didn't say whether you miss shifted or not. But in one of your other threads you say you revved the car to 8600rpm and then hit the limiter??

I don't see why someone would even want to rev their own car to the limit.

Its not good for your car, and is definitely no the best rev to shift at. You will be making less power as the curve tapers off so you will actually be driving slower than if you shifted at the peak power rpm.

Huh?

I dunno guys... maybe driving style causes issues like this? None of my M cars broke??? And i drive hard but no bouncing of limiters or basically hammer the car without respect for its mechanicals.

My rule of thumb though is never raise the rev limiter.

This makes no sense; The engine is designed to endure high revs, if there was no software install to upgrade performance then how will the car reach an over rev point during driving the software to advanced unless it was stationary engine wasn't idled to warm up and the car was revved erratically (cut out)...I would still take this to Hello Peter and have a fit at the dealer and not leave their offices until the car booked in...

Firstly you should have insisted that you would like to test a manual.
Then you should have used this opportunity to investigate if the new M3 is plagued by these issues
Money shift Baby - whatever that means...
