E92 320i - Thoughts?

I spotted one of the above, full service history, manual, space grey, under 120 000 km for around R 160 000.

Any thoughts? I haven't seen many of these around and was wondering whether anyone had experience in one of these to share.

What is the 2l engine like in the coupe - any different than in the sedan? Are there any decent 320i E92's found at that price point?

Haven't researched the E92 much yet (in progress) but it is a magnificent creature to behold.

I test drove a 320 coupe before purchasing my 325 and it was more than capable.

What year model is it?
Exclusive, individual, MSpec etc?

That would determine if you are paying a fair price as they all come with their own 'features'.

Not too bad. But I would strongly recommend manual.

Personally I wouldn't buy it because performance isn't great (unless I lived at the coast, then I might consider it). But performance means a lot to me. Still, a great car.

As an alternative, 325i coupe's have more standard features, will probably have more extras in general and will be much better in the long term because they are strong. They also sound much much better. :)

I wouldn't advise it, as the sporty nature of the E92, would require an adequate power-plant. For me the 325i E92 was only adequate, I can not imagine a smaller engine in that body-shell. There are a lot of 325i E92s around, from my experience they are pretty much bullet proof, as I owned mine out of plan from mileage 100K to 150K. Not sure what your requirements are........

BMW SA should have brought a 320d E92 instead of the 320i.

have had experience with a LCI e90 320i(non-m auto and manual) and also an e92 320i(m-sport manual)

all I can say what the 320i coupé lacks in performance it makes up for in looks and style.

drive a 320i sedan if you can, and you will have a general feel what the coupés performance will be like.

If you are after performance then the 320i coupe will disappoint you slightly.
if you looking for a stylish cruiser/panty dropper then the 320i will fulfill your wishes depending on the spec.

do not try race with the 320i even a 1.6 citi golf will give you a hard time. and leave you feeling like

for that price its reasonable.

Yes BMW SA do make mistakes......not sure what they wanted to achieve with the E92 320i, as entry level. If the they brought in a 320d E92, it would fit in with the sporty nature of the car as performance and fuel consumption are good. Most people complain about lack of power so in hindsight considering it is a performance/sporty vehicle the diesel would have made more sense.

I mean why have the 1 series coupe in diesel 120d? and the bigger body E92 with the relatively lower output powerplant n/a 4pot. It just doesn't make sense...........

A 330d E92 would be a lot more expensive.
