e90 vibrations

Hi Fanatics,i took my car e90 323i for a drive on a high way this afternoon,above 90km/h the car was vibrating,the vibration was felt through the seat and pedals,the more i accelerate the more it get worse,ooh and i forget to tell you ther s also a rotation noise that sound like a helicopter propellers.what can cause this,please assist fanatics

As suggested above, could be an issue with the prop shaft (hope not), or something as simple as wheels/tyres that are out of balance and out of round. I would have the car lifted and take a look underneath. Hopefully whatever is causing it is not too hectic!

I had a similar issue with my car when I hit 60kmh it was the prop shaft coupling and it caused the bush in the centre to give up so I had to replace the prop...

It could also just be tires

+1 on it being the propshaft "doughnut" that's failed. Does it do this regardless of what gear you're in (i.e. linked to speed only and not to engine revs)?

Linked to speed only not gear make sure u get the right one first time there are a lot of them that look similar but are for different models and the material is made from different grades that will affect the prop

Thanks alot guys with the good advices,problem solved,it was a buckled rim and faulty run flat tire,replaced all tires with non runflats

Nice lucky not something more serious, please check up if running non run of flats voids your insurance I have heard it might

My insurance company says it's runflats or nothing. Sad though. Every time I'm gona need a tyres I know it's going to leave a big hole in my wallet.
