hey guys
i hit a huge pot hole last week Fri and now my tyre
has a slight bubble
no warning lights or anything ,
just a bubble
were can i get a new tyre at a good price
driver side front (Potenza) and how much can i get for the old tyre
still have 85%

Got a bubble as well after hitting pothole. I replaced the tyre and threw it away. Too risky to pass it on. Had approximately 98% tyre tread left. :bawling:

Dont sell as you will risk some one else with a problem, i think we went through 2 sets 18''(back and front) on 1 car last year alone(+-15000km total on all 8), its all apart of life. I read somewhere on the forum a member changed to Hankook 18'' RFT for +-R1450 if im not mistaken per tyre if you wana change the brand all together and he had good things to say about the Hankooks.

I would advise you to change the tyre asap. A bubble effectively means your sidewall is pretty badly damaged and not stable. Also when the guys are changing tyres, ask them to inspect the mags properly. Sometimes you can get a slight crack on your mag (from hitting a pothole) and it usually gets worse over time.

... and throw the old tyre away. Just not worth the risk to yourself or anyone else. I once changed a tyre that had about 1000 KM on it, after hitting a pothole and developing a bubble - it's just something you need to accept.

I fitted the Hankook RFTs and am very happy so far! But they are normal 225/45/17 - not sure if they have them in 18" size here. I'm sure with enough interest that should change soon though - price and performance is good compared to the big brands... Beware though, although they are RFTs, they don't have the BMW approved star thingy on them...

Depends weather you have that tyre insurance thing, like mine pays out a max of R1000 per tyre but you have to measure the thread on the tyre and tell them what it is, like 60% gets my R600 and so on. I had to send photos of the tyres,a small note frm a tyre place stateing the tyre thread and the damage if any. Its well worth the cover on our roads

When the wifes car picked up a bubble from pothole damage, BMW said that it can only be replaced by the same make or change all 4 to one make. R4000 later one tyre was changed, Michelin RF FTL :banghead:
