Hi guys,

So i woke up and switched on the car in the mrn and i got the error message below....

<a href="http://s1050.photobucket.com/albums/s404/unikbana/?action=view&amp;current=radiator2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s404/unikbana/radiator2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Being a person who doesnt know anything about cars i just added some water and drove the car to work.. Halfway on my way to work i saw steam coming out of the car so i stopped, put some hazards and let the engine cool-off (like 30minutes hopping one fanatic will stop and assist :fencelook: ),

I started the car again and i saw the same error message again on my dashboard, so i turned off the engine and called my bush mechanic to come and have a look, he tuned me my Radiator is messed up n i will need to replace the whole damn thing. He told me to drive the car but i should always stop n add some water otherwise i am going to damage the whole engine... I managed to get to work, stopping at 10minutes intervals to add some more water

My car is out of MP, the guy where i normally service the car says he is fully booked till Monday, do you guys think its a good idea to stop n add some more water today after work or i should just call my insurance to tow the truck to the garage...

I work in Wood-mead n i stay in MIDRAND, my mechanic is also in MIDRAND...

Insurance and tow it. The last thing you want is more major damages that will cost u 2 x kidney's and Heart

+1 Cos that isn't the kidneys on the front of your car.

Not worth the risk.

Btw, where is the steam coming out from?

But when you open the bonnet, can you not see if it is coming out of the hose, bottle, radiator, etc?

I see where you going with this, sounds like the pipe burst but if you read in the beginning, you will note he added water and drove. So something else had to cause it to over heat, like say fan not working.

Its kind difficult to tell since steam will be all over the bottom right corner, but i think its coming from the Radiator, Or one of those cables that connects to the radiator...

I also thought it was a loose pipe but i physically checked them, they are all fastened to the Radiator....

if its yellow, it means coolant level is low... top up with half and half mixture of water and coolant... and the light should go away

if the car is overheating and the light stays on, you may have a leak in one of the pipes, just remove the top cover(3 torx screws) and use a torch to check for any water on the bottom tray... then replace the pipe if its a beeeeg hole... all this can be done by urself

You can pick up a hair line crack which will cause you to lose loads of water under pressure.

I picked up a crack on the factory seam of my water bottle before which caused me to lose loads of water in minutes after the car heats up. When the car cooled down, there was just about zero evidence of the leak since it was that thin of a crack.

This is why I say that it won't be immediately obvious. Hope you get it sorted soon with minimal cost bud :thumb:
