280k can buy you a decent E90 330d. Just saying :fencelook:

interesting.
is this better than than F30 in your oppinion?

Look driving the F30 compared to E90 is world's apart, F30 is a lot more refined. A bit more numb if you ask me but in some ways I do prefer it, I drive both simultaneously but still have a soft spot for the E90 - throw a 330d into the mix, I'd take an E90 330d over an F30 320i anyday!
Especially in Msport guise with all the bells and whistles.

At the end of the day it is what you want.
Yes you basing it on what people say but I say go test drive all cars you interested in and see which you can afford.

Going for a E90 you do realise that there might not be a lot of MP left on it depending on model etc. If the car is out of motorplan can you afford the services on the car ? If yes then still your decision based on the test drives.

E90 320i - normal aspirated so it suffers with performance.
F30 320i - turbo - performance is way better.
E90 330d - crap load of power.

So yes I suggest test drive all of the ones you interested in and take it from there keeping financial situation in mind.

Considering your options, I'd go with the F30. It may be standard but down the line you could do some upgrades to it. Besides, it will drive better, resale value will be higher and consider the Motorplan also

F30 320i , you will be buying the latest technology and shape, and later on, add a JB4 if you want extra power.

Thank u guys, I will go and have a go at them. Moto plan is important, turbo charge std, i drive, better resale value etc. All things mentioned are helpful. The prices are better outside KZN, Will drive them and might even ask a favour from a fanatic to test drive one for me THAT is outside my province.
Thank u guys will keep u posted . The pics and the like will comming soon. U all r gd people, will be seeing in charity events.

My F30 328i was written off so I got a 330d e90 lci. The E90 330 vs f30 320, no contest. Although the f30 features are much more superior, the 330 will put a big smile on your face. You can certainly find one in your budget.

Defs F30 if you're looking at petrol! The E90 is dog slow compared to the F30 320i!
But if you can find a low mileage E90 320d M Sport, that would be a good idea too. But the low mileage ones are scarce as ppl hang onto them since they're awesome cars!

Unless you are going E90 330i or E90 335i then I would have to say F30 320i.

I've driven both, and everything from the build quality, to the ride, to the looks , to the interior is just better.

However the F30 without the M-Sport kit isnt better looking than an E90 with M-Sport kit.

I disagree on the build quality of the F30 - it's the part of the car that I felt most let down by. Case in point, between the bonnet and the front glass, you can see the welding points under the bonnet when sitting in the driver's seat.

The rear door's inside lip is sharp and not properly finished off. That's led to my finger being cut when manhandling the kids out of the car.

The MSport seats are terrible and not a nice place to be. Plus the door is too far away from my knee so can't rest my right leg against it.

The panels are thinner than on the E90. It doesn't sound like a BMW when you close the doors.

The best thing about the F30 for me was that engine and Gearbox. I must admit they are truly impressive.

And yes, I lived with an F30 for two years. Before that I had an E90 and I got another E90 now for a daily.

Bru I recommend you get BMW to have a look at yours as I dont hae any of these problems in my F30.

Perhaps this is the diff between your 2012 F30 and my 2014 F30.

Aaah didn't read you sold the F30...

Well my F30 M-sport seats are much more comfortable than the E90 M Sport seats.
My F30 doors feel heavier and more solid than the E90 doors.
My rear doors dont have the sharp finish you had, just went and checked.
I dont have the problem with my knee in mine because I am 6ft9 ;)

So maybe it is just luck of the draw.

My E90 also used to rattle like hell, no accidents or anything that may cause a rattle. F30 is dead quiet and far more comfortable. More head room, more space in general and a better place to be in. The E90 looks cheap and out dated if you compare the interiors.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Thanks for the feedback though. All the above niggles I mentioned made me pretty much hate the car. Somehow I love the E90 still.

I bet there's no accounting for taste then huh?
