E90 oil and sump service

Hi Guys,

I have a 2006 BMW E90 325i and I would like to do a oil and sump service.

I have done a basic oil service on my other BMW's e36 M3, E46 330i but never on the e90, so not sure what to expect.

P.s. I am looking to get my spares from Goldwagen, I presume they are good enough.. anyone use a different supplier??

I would like to know what all is required on a oil service?
* Oil filter
* Air filter
* Oil (7litres) 5w30
* 6 x Spar plugs

I have never done a sump service, so if anyone could offer some advise...

** Is it difficult to do?
** Are there any specific tools I need?
** Is there anything I need to look out for?

Thanks in advance

I would suggest that you get all the filters and plugs from BMW. Oil you can get from any spares shop as long as it the correct spec.
Servicing should be similar to your e46.

An oil service is just oil and oil filter, what you are referring to above is a minor service where you replace all the filters, spark plugs and oil.

Regarding the prices you are looking at around:

BMW
* Air filter - R510.90
* Oil filter - R182.47
* (Sommer maar) Cabin filter - R819.79
* Oil - R 90 per litre (require 7 of them, car takes 6.5L)
* Spark plugs - R264.48 each (require 6 of these puppies)

Goldwagen
* Spark plugs - R115 each

I would buy the air & oil filter from BMW as you will replace them like every 25 000km (like every 2 years say).

The spark plugs and oil I will get from Goldwagen as long as it is the same grade 5W40.

But honestly, an oil service is a oil filter (R182.47) and oil (R630) only. Don't replace the rest as you will just cost yourself more money - My opinion

The correct oil grade is 5w30. Dont use Castrol, BMW has now changed over to Shell.

Get the air and oil filter from BMW. The cabin Filter you can get from elsewhere.

Spark plugs you can also get from Bosch Diesel Electric same type as BMW.

I never did a sump service. If theres no oil leak around the sump gasket and if the car has had a regular oil change, then there is no need to touch it.
