Hi guys.
two months ago I had my shocks replaced with motorplan, I got the car back with a significan gap between the tyres and the arch, it used to sit perfectly before the shocks were changed, I thought maybe the shocks need to settle, but surely it won't take so long :thumbdo: . Please help:ty:

two options, one your old shocks were really kaput or they fitted the non m-sport shocks( although i wouldnt expect the latter to cause a noticeable height diff, maybe a ride diff)

If shocks could settle im sure they would have by now.

I'm of the opinion that your old shocks were completely vrot like Sash mentioned, hence the car never returning to the original ride height.

This is normal.

Don't the springs need to settle on the shocks. Ride height afaik is determined by the springs and not the shocks?

Yes he said 2 weeks ago. But how much mileage has he done in that 2 weeks. We don't know.

Check the difference in part numbers between Msport and Non M sport shocks.

You should then pick up if the correct shocks have been fitted.

Gave bmw my chasis number, they gave me a part number which matched the part number on the shock fitted, my old shocks were probably worn, they were changed at 96k km. Looked way better when the front arch sat just above the tyre though:cry:

I replaced my M Sport shocks with Koni STRTs about two weeks ago, and I was mortified at my new ride height :( . The M Sport shocks were completely shot though so I understood, but happily the car has settled a bit although not as low as previously. So I'm getting H&Rs from Moranor........ :)

All gas/nitrogen pressurised dampers will affect ride height versus oil bath type dampers due to the peload.
