E90 LCI Inner Tail Light

Hi guys,

Yesterday as I was about to leave work, the globe error appeared on my OBC, upon checking around the car I saw the right hand side inner tail light was not working.

When I open the boot the light comes on and when I close the boot it goes off. I believe this is a wiring problem and not the light unit itself because none of the lights work, i.e. the reverse light or the fog light doesn't come on.

Anyone out there experience the same problem and any referrals to who can assist me to sort out this issue.

To give you guys feedback and a BIG THANK YOU to Gert from OBDWORX.

He sourced the problem of the inner tail light failure to a broken earth cable which runs in the rubber loom between the bootlid and the car.

I must say, I was very impressed with the thorough fault finding that went into finding the actual problem and the repair of the damaged cable.

That problem occurs in a variety of BMW from my e36 to my 850, the constant bending of the cable at the hinge causes cables to break over time. Although a bit early for a e90.
