technical E36 lights

Hi all, I’m having a problem with my E36 (4 door) lighting. My headlights and brights work perfectly but my driver’s park light does not work all. It’s the same on with the driver’s side tail light, reverse light and indicator light work but not the park/brake light. Any idea what it could be?

I’ve done all the pre-checks - bulbs, fuses, relays, bulb holders at the rear, etc. I’m yet to check wires in depth but so far nothing looks frayed or damaged.

(Also there’s a hefty wiring problem on car which I’m going to sit with in due time, for example the car stays running if the lights are ON and low beams don’t go ON unless fogs are ON. I’m not sure if this is a contributing problem considering the left side works perfectly)

All help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

howzit. did you try to bulb holders. I had the same issues and swapped them around.. this was on the tail lights though

Check how your cables are earthed, sounds like a faulty ground wire(s). I remember posts saying that some soldered joints tend to fail but this was more common with taillights then headlights

I know a common fault is number plate lights that fail due to wires breaking because of bending and age.
Requires to remove some tube sleeve on the tailgate .
It's also not impossible to melt wires in the headlights due to excessive heat and overpowered bulbs . That nearly happened to me. Stick with good oem brands.
Also avoid cheap fuses . Some don't blow out at the amperage they are supposed to.
