Update: Today BMW Mechie replaced vibration damper and car is back on the road. I had a new error come though, Airbag malfunction error, and seatbelt occupancy error. I tried restarting the car, but to no avail. After driving a bit more, all my other errors came up, with wipers, tranny limp mode and lumpy idle.

Has the software been updated by BMW ? Your issue should be fixed now, it's possible that the car is still storing the old error codes.

Do yourself a favour and replace the regulator on your alternator...it's like 700bucks from a Diesal electric... Again its just a hunch...

Nope, Mechie came to my house and sorted me out. Could disconnecting the battery overnight help clear memory and start afresh?

The E90's have a tendency to store old error codes, I had a issue where my 06 320d was storing error codes from a year ago, full software update fixed the issue.

Have you spoken to Gizmo on the forum?

Had a chat to him last week re the pulley, but I couldnt get the car towed to him. As the car is now back on the road, I'll most probably go to him for input before taking it to the dealer.

Quick update:

So this morning I took the car back to Bosch, as it was acting up again and left it there idling. Service man took it to an auto electrician while I was waiting, and they confirmed that my alternator is charging @ 18V :drama:

So left the car there for them to unpack why it's overcharging, hopefully will get this sorted today.

What made this so difficult to diagnose is due to it being intermittent, but more like it happens when car is warm - after driving it for 30min or more.

If its a Bosch alternator you can get the regulator for like 700 bucks from Diesal electric... Fitment is like 10 min flat.. There are a few on gumtree as well..

Not a Bosch unit, and regulator price came to R1500, so not worth it. I ended up going with a new Bosch Alternator, and car is running 100% again. All errors were cleared and no other issues. Happy to have her back.

Just want to say thanks to all for the contribution, much appreciated. :ty:

Ignore the glow plug control unit...it's a useless piece of tech installed on the SA versions as we never get cold enough...

Your first place to start trouble shooting is with your IBS... Also get a sparky to check the voltage output from your alternator, lastly please tell us where you from..
