E90 Front control arms

Hi all,

Car went in for a routine service today @ 40000 km (Service light went on) It wasn't ready for collection today as they called and said they have to replace the front wheel control arms.

I'm asking is it common to replace something like that at 40k km?

What sort of roads you driving? Lots of potholes?

Strange one, but these things do happen, control arm snapped in half on my e90 just by reversing straight lol.
Dealer said probably defective build.

Not exactly deep pot holes... Just those on the road bumps. Those uneven road surfaces and re-tarred roads...
