E90 central locking not working

Hi

This morning after dropping kids at school my central locking stopped working i.e. pressing key fob buttons and lock button on dash has no affect on doors, doors stay unlocked when driving etc. I have had this before in 2009 and MP fixed it.

Searching the internet reveals that this is a common problem on the E90 and is either the fuse or actuator. Guys in the States have a Service Bulletin to fix the problem. Does anyone know if there are any service bulletins for this in South Africa?

If it's just the fuse then it should be a cheap fix. The actuator costs about R900 from BMW. If there is a service bulletin then I would rather BM carry some or all of the cost.

I found it to be the fuse when it happened to me, I havent really heard of that many actuators failing,

I'm not sure on the E90's but on the E36 theres a few spare fuses included in the fuse box, as well as the fuse layout.

I have a similar issue, but only with the front passenger door. I had a passenger get out, I locked, when we returned the door wouldn't unlock. All other doors work fine, could this be an actuator fault?

So it cost me R24 and 1.5 hours of my time to fix.

The difficult part was trying to get the two fuses out. My passenger door could not open so I had to lean over from the driver side all the while having the center console and handbrake shoving into my side. It also does not help that the fuses are micro fuses. I had to use a long thin screwdriver to pry them loose and a long nose pliers to fit the new ones.

I replaced fuses 56 and 57 with 20 amp fuses bought at BMW. The original fuses were blue 15 amp.

After changing the fuses I had to disconnect the battery before the doors worked.

I had the same issue which was a faulty actuator ... they can also cause the fuses to blow if they are on their way out ... :( ... hope u get it sorted

With my issue, where only the front passenger door is not unlocking, could it be fuse related or rather the actuator? I doubt it as the fuse will effect the entire system I presume. How do I test if it is the actuator?
