Hi guys,

I would like to do preventative maintenance on my 330d,

Any known issues to regularly check for or good habits/tips to follow that will prevent issues/expensive services would be awesome to know about.

Please share as many you know :ty:

Currently the car is running perfectly, no issues.

Thanks

Change oil every 10 000km
use proper oil, liquid molly, I use shell ultra thou,
use genuine oil filter,
never drive the car hard from start,
if you do drive fast before parking, the last few km home, drive slow and I usually put the aircon on to let the fan run to cool the car down while I drive the last few KM
Depending on mileage you will prob need to change the damper pulley,
oh service the gearbox if auto at around 120 000km
oh and you might wanna do a DPF removal,

that's pretty much what I can think off, its a brilliant car, good choice,

Look at the cooling system. At around 150000km or so the thermostat and/or waterpump needs replacement.

Good Advice from Clifton,

Check This Thread where Ive been documenting the maintenance on my E90, 320d. EL-LINK-O

I know its not the same car, but it will steer you in the right direction, and most things on these 2 models are quite similar.

My gearbox was diagnosed as rebuild a bit earlier than 120000 kms (108XXX to be exact) suggest you go chat to ZF services and they can let you know where it is in its adaptation / wear progress.

Then oil and pan change it if its not bad.

Ciiff. Putting the aircon on actually heats up the engine bay even though the fan comes on. The evaporator gets hot which in turn blows hot air onto the radiator. Its best to just drive slower as you get to your destination. If you want you can open the bonnet to cool off faster. That only an option in heat wave climate.
