I went for the e90 323i

Nice. I'm not sure if there is a big difference in performance going from a 323i to 325i. Did you demo the 323i against the 320i ? If so what did you think ?

The 323 will blow the 320i out of the water. hands down.

If youve got your mind fixed on a petrol, the 6 packs that BMW produce are amazing engines.

Every Series of BMW is an improvement on its predecessor. Thats why you see more power but better fuel consumption, and handling and other aspects.

If youre sure bout the petrol, getting a 6pack is something you wont regret.

Hi guys,

As you all know I have an E90 320i and I've been hammered in the past due to high expectations. At one point I even considered chipping it. :mmm:

So I went for a test drive this morning in a 325i (2007 spec) and wow, the difference in performance was huge. Very pleased. Overtaking was just so easy now, I could still pull away in 4th, even 5th wasn't bad.

Comparatively speaking, the 320i is dead in fifth. It doesn't move in that gear and 6th ? Probably the biggest difference (to me) was the engine note; absolutely amazing. I never expected that.

So I've made up my mind, I'm going for a 325i next. Just need to sell this car (still under motor plan) and hope the rest of my finances are in order.

I originally wanted a diesel as my next car but this is just too much fun. Really chuffed. Thanks guys for moving me in the right direction.
You should seriously consider the 330d E90, I am driving that as well as a 335i, let me tell you, even the 335, struggles to keep up to the 330d on launching and overtaking performance!!, just my positive note towards the oilers!

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately I don't have the budget for a 330d (E90...won't go for an E46 D) so it's either 320d or 325i. I'm leaning towards the 325i at the moment.

BTW, just as a matter of interest, are there any GTG's happening anytime soon ? :=):

Honestly I love my E46 330d I started doing my warm up and cool down routines just as a safe measure.

I don't have any first hand experience with the E46 models but I've been told on occasion to stay away from the E46 diesel models. Even guys from this forum have said that I should avoid them like the plague because of turbo failures.

Personally, if I get a car I don't want to go backwards...I rather try to get something slightly better but newer. Otherwise I probably could get an E46 330i and be done with it. But it's older...has a lot more mileage and that does bother me. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are in love with their E46 diesels as well, it's just that the stories I've been told have not been very encouraging as far as maintenance is concerned.

323i is a really great car..
325i 20 odd kw more than the 323i but in essence same motor different software.

Also have a 323i and i'm happy... :) not the fastest but still it's that sound of a BMW 6cyl that i so bloody love..
Every morning when i pull into the basement parking at work i have to give it a little just to hear it..

Good luck with finding a awesome machine :) oiler or petrol :)

a bmw should have 6 cyl its what they do best...

Agree....the 8's not bad either a case of the more the merrier

in my opinion (not that i know anything) the 8's and the 10's only exist because bmw pushed the 6 as far as it can go... the 6's are perfect...
