e90 325i not selecting drive warning lights on

hi all

my father in law jump started his bmw e90 325i auto. now the dash lights are going crazy and the car starts but doesn't select drive. i hope it isn't a computer box/ ECU problem :-(

anybody has had a similar issue ??

please let me know how it was resolved.

thanks in advance.

Would suggest removing the battery and have it charged, the positive cable located at the back can some times push the clamp up slightly, make sure the cable is free from any strain it might be taking, ensure that the clamps are connected firmly to the terminals.

Had the same issue when I had my battery replaced

thanks lostboy ( the only reply ) :ty:

the problem was the battery which was completely drained due to teenagers playing the radio all night. simple jump from the jumping point in the engine bay fixed the problem. the previous boost probably didn't give enough power.

Was a little concerned but all is ok now

Be careful when you do decide to jump next time, the FRM in these cars are sensitive to sudden spikes and will go at no times notice.

Glad to hear your car got sorted, ya BMW decided to complicate the driver's car by installing electronics to tell you where you going (steering angle sensor, wait for that one to start).
