e90 323 wont start

hi guys, bit stumped now, replaced battery a few months back, brand new. but car wont start at all. no warning lights nothing. does not look to be a battery/power problem. Have however notcied that when i press the button with foot firmly and all the way in i hear the petrol pump for a few seconds...could this be related? what else could i check for? my luck car is just out of motorplan....

No she is not swinging at all. The lights on the dash all come on on pressing the start/stop button and depressing the clutch fully but no cranking sound. Just dead except for the fuel pump noise on pressing the start/stop button. She only starts on pushing! A friend ran a diagnostic check on the car and it gave an error code - AOB4 related to the start system. Checked fuses number 4 and 51 as per fuse schedule and found those to be working. We were suspectying that perhaps there is something wrong with starter relay. We also used a battery tester to check the battery and the tester said no problem with battery.

Was wondering if it was manual or auto - the fact that there's an error means something is wrong, otherwise the sensor on the clutch is not working but doubt that would cause an error. So possibly something more related to the starter motor.

Someone more clever is bound to help out here though!! :thumbs:

I have done that mate (keeping my finger on the start/stop button for a little long) and still the car will not start!

You are the second person, Philip, to mention a potential problem with the clutch sensor - that perhaps it's not picking up that the clutch has been depressed fully. Turning to the starter motor though - is it something that normally packs up? The mileage on this baby is 116K.

Has the same on NY z4.
Basically solenoid for starter motor went bad, killing NY battery slowly. Replaced battery, car would go flat after a week.
One day turn ignition fuck all happens.
Solenoid went dead, and so did starter motor (tested by powering starter motor and solenoid with power lead.)

R1500 LATER for a recon starter and solenoid from car service city car was perfect
