E90 320i sump gasket

Hi guys

I'm in the process of fixing all the oil leaks was wondering if it is advisable to attempt to DIY the sump gasket on a E90 320i with common tools and jack stands? How difficult would the process be? Or should I rather have it done at a mechanic?

Hi I just did my E90 n55 335i. Yes you can do with the jack stands but you need to go high enough to get enough clearance to drop the sub frame.
You will need an engine support bar... Essential. You need the usual bmw torx sockets etc.. I can share a list of all the tools for the job. I dont know how to attach in the message. Drop your email I can send.
It wasn't a very difficult job in terms of mechanical skills, But and this is groot But, it is a time consuming job, if you are a novice DIY you can do this for sure but you must plan very carefully and best to document each step as you disassemble so that when it's time to reassemble you don't finish the job with lots of spare parts you really shouldn't have ?.
I can also share some really good links for this job if you like.
I am literally finishing my job off now. I am doing the water pump and Thermostat while it's all accessible with the subframe being out the way.
Also a good idea to replace engine mounts while you doing this as it's all exposed and easily accessible.
