E90 320i Strange Noise

Hi,
I have just purchased the following BMW.
Alpine White 2006 320i E90
165K on the clock No Errors on System Check

Took possession of the car on Friday and have 7 days to look the car over.

I have noted a strange Noise while driving at 40-50km/h and torque is applied.
The car could be in first, second or third, once the clutch is disengaged the sound fades away.
Downhill no noise in gear. Noise might be more to the left of the car.. ?

Anyone with any advice or ideas. I truly do not want it to be the gearbox as I have already noted a large leak from the vacuum pump. So want to make sure she is a keeper.

Coolant Expansion Tank was just replaced as breather screw broke off while on route to deliver her.

Added a youtube link.

Just an update.

Took her to Autobox, Gearbox and prop shaft seems fine.

Sound has since been replicated by only revving the engine.
Its the weirdest thing. Its not constant. Then its there, then its gone.
Changes even tempo and speed.

Took the Car to a few Mec's and they have no clue. Recommended repair the leak first and then diagnose.

So she is booked in to get the vacuum pump leak, and bits fixed next week.
Will then hopefully see if there's any change.

Got a copy of Rheingold so will do some testing soon.

With such a vague description it is difficult to advise, but it can be power steering pump, alternator any of the drive belts. Is it a humming, rumbling, grinding, wheezing or whining sound?

GPGrobler,
Its best heard on the youtube clip in the first post at 30sec.

I would describe it as a Whining Sound at mid RPM's.
Driving it was first noticed at 40-50km/h. Later it was replicated by revving the engine. But then the sound would change or vary.

Thats the best I could describe it without the clip.

Have thought that it might be the drive belts or the tensioner.
The only other issue that could be related or not is sometimes that car turns a few times on start before firing up. This happens only after it has been driven and parked.
Never in the mornings at first start.

Thanks for the post

I have another Update.

Ran Rheingold on the gal and I have the following errors shown.

IMAG1403.jpg

Could anyone assist me with the top three.

I have read that I should clear the Valvetronic fault and see if it comes up again. ?

Then the KOMBI:Odometer difference is slightly disturbing. Did they change the mileage on the car? or could it be from a replacement part.

Car is currently in 165802

Batt must have been replaced not to long ago, White Original fitted and it tested prime. Tester at first thought it must be a old batt and could not believe the results.

My only question is how could some errors show up 524280 Km? I cleared a error before screenshot about similar mileage reporting failure of Right front indicator. The car is in mint condition and it would be hard to believe it had this many miles on it.

Cheers
