e90 320d Water Pump

My Beemers coming up for a service. It's currently on around 155k km's.

Previous service I replaced the Crank Pulley and Tensioner.

I've been doing a little reading up on the water pumps and it looks like it runs a mechanical pump.

Goldwagen sells them for about R1700(Hepu) and another R500(Mahle) for a thermostat.

1 - How often should these be changed?
2 - What do you think of the Goldwagen brand?
3 - Does anyone have any "replacement guides" for this specific motor?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

my car is currently at 212 000km and its starting to idle very rough.

I wouldnt touch the diesels water pump, they last extremely long and have low failure rates compared to the petrol, However i would do the following, replace the expansion tank and cap aswell as the thermostat, the thermostats tend to fail in an open position however you wont know this as the E90 does not have a heat gauge.

in terms of Brands, Hepu, Meyle and FebiBilstein are all great brands :thumbs:

So...you reckon not to touch the water pump? I'm getting conflicting advice as I've had some guys tell me.....including GW, that I should do it every 90k?

I was bitten by a water pump on my e36, but if it's not an issue on the diesels I am happy to just refresh the anti freeze and, as you've suggested, change out the expansion tank etc as preventative maintenance.

Would like to hear what others also suggest from their experiences? Anyone have any pump issues on their diesels?

90k is for the electric pumps that are prone to failure, PM me your number we have a diesel owners whatsapp group with over 30 people, with 100k km upto 350k km and no water pump replacements documented.
