I need to replace the rear tyres on my car, did the front december, i got 60k on them. The front is 225*45*17, no problem, the rear is 255*40*17, this is my problem, they are very expensive, why did this car come with two size tyres?
This is not a performance car, and i am not pushing it to perform.
My question is this :
Can i fit 225*45*17 on the rear? I know the rims front is 8j and rear is 8 1/5j.
My reason for this thinking is that two of the rims was swopped by the tyre shop that fitted the previous tyres as i ran all this time with a 225*45*17 on a 8 1/5j rim and a 255*40*17 on a 8j rim. I looked at merc's with 17" rims and they have 225*45*17 front and rear. Let me be realistic for a while, 225*45*17 tyres are by no means skinny and are readily available. If this is a bad idea i will gladly like to know if somebody has experience with the same problem.:flyfun:
