Good afternoon, thanks for accepting me to the group. I have a bit of an issue with my BMW that struggles to start in the morning. I have had it at BMW a few times but they cannot seem to rectify the issue. Could it be an issue with the glow plugs or the oxygen sensor? I have replaced the battery as well. My next steps is removing/blocking the EGR and removing the Catalytic converter. If i replace the glow plugs is there a brand that i should get?

Overheating on long drives could be due to crack in the expansion tank. It only opens up when coolant gets hot and pressure in the system builds. Had the same on my 30d. Best is to have it pressure tested at a mech.

As to glow plugs, usually the module dies before the plugs themselves. Run a scan and see if it reports any errors. Usually when the controller dies it will show that all the glow plugs are faulty. Brands I would look at Beru for the controller module. Bosch and NGK are trustworthy brands for the plugs themselves
