Just a quick one. A 2011 lci e90 320d sump plug. Is it the one behind the plastic door or the one in the solid steel recess?

Just a update for future use. 2011 320d e90

The plastic door located on the underside is where the plug is located. Number 17 socket is the size to remove it.

Bmw have made the switch to shell last year. While supply is a little slow this what the bottle looks like.
The ect is newer and your best choice and what bmw sold me last year. Now they run out of stock I managed to get the ultra extra from goldwagon for under R100. The two oils shown are 100% the same just one has the ect additive and the other not.
I am much happier with shell, as the castrol has much less smooth and discolouring was bad. Shell comes out cleaner. Car takes around 5.5L and oil do a oil change when the motor is gold. Never throw cold oil in a hot motor.

Just a pic on the oil filter and it's bits. One is a seal for the oil filter cap and the other is a new sump plug washer.
Still better to buy oem service parts.

Location of the oil filter. Remove it with a 27 socket. Don't make it to tight. On the side of the car with the radiator water bottle.

The Gud and Fram aftermarket oil filters also have the O-ring and washer in the box. I have never felt the need to be a brand whore. As for oil, I take the cheapest synthetic one that says BMW certified on the label. Call me a heretic if you must.
