Hi guys.

On my car I average 16.5kmpl. I have heard of a lot of people getting 20kmpl out of theirs with average driving. What can cause this lower consumption?

No, not the lead in my foot...I drive half of the time at 100kmph and the other half 130kmph.Full throttle maybe twice per 30km trip whilst overtaking.

I don't think that this is "high" fuel consumption for a 320d. Basically monitor your car's econometer to see where it is using more than usual!

cant do that. Its like that from the start. I dont have anything to reference it to.

I have driven open road, 130kmph cruise control, for a full tank with econometer constantly at 6.1 l/100km. So this is a constant thing not related to my driving style or driving speedI would judge

Hmm, not sure then! Hopefully one of the diesel 'brains' will be able to help with this - I've heard of consumptions as low as 4.7 l/100 km or (21.28 km/l)...

Your car with +/- 6Liter per 100km is right where its supposed to be
You could check DPF if clotted, change air filter, diesel filter, clean injectors and get down to 5.0 to 5.3 Liter per 100km .... is it worth the efforts?

:argh:

Isnt there a hidden botton somewhere I can push???

I have had the car seviced, so the most of those are sorted, except that these guys cant work on the injectors.
How do I check if the DPF is clotted?

mmmm, think I just need to get a 330d

Your car is out of MP I guess so why don't you take DPF out?
Servers multiple issues at once :=):

I don't think this is a problem, my opinion

Can't see how you getting that on a diesel.
Are you sure its Diesel and not just the badge?

8.5 l/100km?
I get 6.5 with 'soft' driving. I havent really checked with continues hard driving.
Honestly, it is not possible for me to get 18kmpl while driving 120 in my car. With it being pampered to the max.

I will look at the DPF. I have read of it somewhere but am clueless now...its part of my exhaust right? Particle filter? where is it? and how easily removed?

Thanks for the advice

Edit: Oh yes....my tyres are at 1.9. Otherwise the car drives just to hard. I know this is very soft but will it influence my consumption that much? (I think I got the same consumption at 2.1bar as well in the beginning)

thats your problem right there too low pressure use avg bet min an max as listed on the door. Runflats give you a hard ride either way

Your consumption is not too bad. I got 5.8l / 100km on my 2007 320d.

i dont have runflats anymore. i filled the tank today and took my tyres up to 2.2bar. will check if the next few tanks shows a difference.

i dont think tyres can make that big a difference though. but if Rolf's daughter gets 5.8 i guess mine is normal...

E46 320d actually, but would expect the E90 to be roughly the same in most cases...
