Mine as well, both stock and tuned my 320d and all other cars ran much better and stronger...fuel consumption depended on right foot but when i was in KZN, the 320d was boosting a lot due to me wanting to take on anything that wanted to go.

Is it possible your torque characteristics of your engine changed at the coast?
