E82 ADVICE

Afternoon all,

It's been almost 14 years since production, and I'm wondering if anyone here still pilots an E82 120d?

What's your experience been? I've got roughly 220k on the clock now, wondering if it may be time for software and a DP, or has that ship long sailed at this mileage? Am I just asking for trouble?

Looking forward to any feedback,

I had a 2012 120D until March this year. I'm in an F30 330D and I mis my 120D so much. There was just something about the way the car looked, handled and felt that ticked all the boxes.

I can't speak as to how a tune will affect reliability but a downpipe and software felt like must haves. Software made the torque all the more crazy and the noise a downpipe adds just made the driving experience all the more enjoyable

I had a 2011 E82 120d and did a stage 1 file and downpipe on roughly 200 000km. Made 155kw and 450nm. Sold her on 215 000km 2 years ago and the current owner recently did a stage 2 file and added a stepped cooler. The car now makes nearly 170kw and 500nm. Still as beautiful and reliable as ever.

I think the downpipe/decat is long overdue considering your mileage. You will feel a massive difference as your catalytic converter might by blocked at this stage. Egr-valve and swirl flap delete will also redeem a lot of power. If you can, remove the hardware too. If the swirlflap fails, the debris can be sucked into the engine via intake. Major catastrophe.

I say go ahead. Just source the right tuner. It will feel like a complete different car.
