E70 Engine Mounts Replacements

Hey guys, been having this annoying knocking sound everytime I hit bumps, changed sway bar end links, Control Arm Bushes, problem persists. Changed Transmission / Gear Box Mount, it was completely gone, but problem remained. Checked Shock mounts, found out the support bushes were gone plus 1 shouck mount on driver side broken, got these replaced. Knocking sound better but still there.

Now it seems my worst fears are real it could be Engine Mounts remaining to be replaced now, apparently it's a moer of a job to do, anyone tried this or any advice on this matter?

My milliage is sitting at 295,000, X5 E70 2009 Model.

And ohh recently replaced Wheel Bearings too.

I also have an annoying knocking sound on my 2011 X3 when i go over the gate track or small bumps and had the car at a suspension specialist who first suspected that it could be something that is a  common thing with the F25 X3's namely the steering rack thingie but on inspection found that mine already had the later revised one in. Then found the steering column/shaft knuckle slightly loose and thought he had found the problem but the sound it back. I am also very annoyed by now. On one of my previous cars, a E46 330i which the previous owner had replaced almost all the suspension parts as well as shocks that car also had an annoying knock even when driving on a fairly good surface. In desperation i went to Hi-Q and asked them to have a look. The one guy took a spanner and went straight to and tightened the sway bar links and viola!!, problem solved. Am saying see if the sway bar links are nice and tight!

Thanx for the advice man, let me give that a try, I recently changed these End-Links roughly 8 months go, I doubt they could be worn out by now. I'll take it for checking at HQ aswell maybe they weren't tightened properly and got loose. I hope that's where the problem is like in your case. BMW charges R2500 each, nothing in Goldwagen.

Just to understand U well, has this problem been fixed in your case? I see on your statement you saying "I also have an annoying knocking sound" like in present.

On the E46 the tightening of the roll bar links did the trick - car was quiet as a mouse afterwards. Cannot believe the difference the tightening of the bolts did. Still battling with the X3 noise. It is not making the noise all the time. Seems to quieten down when driving. Only audible when going slowly over bumps, etc.

It seems I finally found the problem but will test and give feedback once sorted, in my case it's a broken control arm bush on the driver side. Heading to Goldwagen tomorrow.
