Hi all

I have a 2004 E60 530i that broke a waterpipe at high speed and overheated slightly. I bought a new head gasket and headbolts already and thought I'd change it myself. Ive removed the valve cover and intake manifold. Youtube says the next thing is to Dead centre the timing and remove the Vanos, now this is where i get a little nervous..... Can anybody be of any help as to how i proceed or if anybody knows someone thatll be willing to travel to Bela-Bela and do it for me?

You need tools to lock the timing. Plus if it overheated, you should get the head checked, in case it warped and needs a skim. Depending on mileage, might as well do valve stem seals, etc.

Might be cheaper to tow the car to Pretoria and get it repaired or find a good BMW indie that side

did you confirm that it blew a gasket with the slight overheat or are you just being precautious?
