E60 530d Turbo Advice Wanted

I have had this weird and wonderful notion of replacing my E60 530d Turbo with that off the 535d (Sequential) - Can it work ? Will it Work ? Are any mods required ?

I believe so; however I think that the exhaust manifold is different. 535d’s have bigger injectors (which are expensive as F%$#) they have a bigger intercooler and I would imagine a re map would be needed for the new airflow and fuel. Rather buy a 640d :thumbs:

Other problem is that the Pre-LCI was vacuum driven, and the LCI was actuator driven, therefore that is an issue as well...

The biggest challenge is controlling the two VNT turbos, and the valves switching between them. Even if you could map it, there just are not enough wires leaving the ECU to do that. So you would need to replace the wiring harness and the ECU with that off a 535d. It is easier to import a 535d.

Or buy a smashed X5 3.5d and transplant..

Doable, but not for the faint hearted, or more correctly, courage you can grow, but this sort of money....

Just looked on the UK Autotrader... E60 535d's can be had for like 5000 pounds

best is to get a good tuner 2 mod yre 530d & it would go like klappers :thumbs:

This is true...

But then tuning a 3.5d....
