Hi guys

I have a 2006 530d, its amazing vehicle but recently it just cuts off.

Last week it refused to start and hour or two after I just drove it for 100km so its not the battery as thats new. Bmw on call towed it in and said its the starter.

On Monday I got stuck again, the ABS lock screen came up as well transmission error and it cut off. I have a new gearbox so it cant be the transmission.
They said it was the alternator and changed the alternator.

Yesterday I picked it up from BMW and I got stuck on way home again, the exact same errors came up and it cut off. :argh:

Now they saying its a fuse?

Can anybody help me distinguish what could be wrong?

Getting stuck three times in two weeks is no fun:thumbdo::nonono:

If BMW is paying for it then dont worry, let them replace the whole car for you...

Not sure if it has anything to do with a recall that was issued a while ago wrt the battery cables in the e60's, there was apparently a fault with some (funny problems and also fire hazard I believe). I got a notification for mine 18 months after it had been sold to someone else!! One would hope that they have actually carried this check out and replaced them as the notification said.... I would not be surprised if they haven't.... but would not like to say its the fault you are experiencing :fencelook:

What does BMW have to say about the whole thing?
Seems they probably just erasing the errors and getting it running again..
Seems there is a wiring thats chaffed somewhere along the loom and is probably causing a short.
Is the battery in the boot? Get them to check the wiring loom

Battery is in boot and the cables/wiring problem chaffing related to what my comment was on the recall.... again, sounds like it could be related to the problem and somehow doubt the competence of some of the techies/dealers!.....:bangdesk:

Thankfully they did tell me of the recall, so that's been checked. Got it back yesterday, they said the fusebox clip was gone so it kept getting loose and that the manager went through the car himself now so it should be right. Im hoping it is when I drive it today:fencelook:
