E46 Water pump failure M43 motor

Hey guys

So I noticed the water pump leaking after the water light came on on the dash yesterday,

Got my self a new pump, and waited for the car to cool down so I can start stripping the car..

All went well until the pump (or a piece of it) came off

basically, the front piece of the pump with the shaft came off, and the water pump sleeve and impeller remain on the engine block. I tried numerous things like using a gear puller, but there is not enough meat for the gear puller to grab onto so I can remove the other piece of the pump. I also tried a hammer and chisel, but stopped after a few times s I was afraid of breaking the timing cover to name a few

Any suggestions as to how I can remove the cylindrical sleeve and blade?

I am freaking out as I do not have a car to travel to work (I commute from Kempton to centurion)

My wife is back at work today from maternity leave, my kid cannot stay away from school as they are having assessments this week

I managed to borrow a car for today to get to work

Will try and post pics tonight

Any advise on how to remove it is welcomed

All sorted,

I broke a hacksaw blade and used the hacksaw blade and cut the sleeve in a few places

I then chiseled it our piece by piece making sure nothing got damaged

Thanks for the help

She is purring like a kitten again
