e46 water leak

while driving 2weeks ago noticed that my water level warning light came on. topped it up with water and ever since every 2-3days have to top it up with water. do u guys know wer i can take my car to get it checked out in the cape town area?

i dnt know if its the expansion take but i noticed a water drip under neath the car but cnt c wer the leak is so need a place wer i can take the car

silverton radiators they can do a pressure test and keep good quality replacement parts and decent prices...

i dnt think its the radiator tho. i look around it but cnt find a leak or wet spot. im not 2 mech inclined but looked underneath the car n noticed a drip 2the back about wer the gear lever area is and not infront wer the radiator is situated..........

silverton keep other parts for the cooling system also... leak could be anywhere because the water will collect of the sump guard and come off at different places depending of the angle of the car...

What could be happening is that its leaking out of the expansion tank somewhere and the water is dripping onto a pipe and running down the pipe which is why it seems as if its leaking towards the back.

It is a well known fact that these radiators have weak point at the return to the expansion tank. It is also a well known fact that the expansion tanks are weak and tend to get hairline cracks. It could also just be the cap on the expansion tank. Check that you have two o-rings on the cap. Hope this helps.

Thx 4 all the advice. I took the car to silverton radiators as recommended and the expansion tank had a hairline crack. Silverton replaced the expansion tank( R700 expansion tank + R300 labour = r1000) so all ok ......................

Same happened to me but the bottle exploded in my case. Very scary. But also made use of Silverton. Top work! :thumbs:
