Hey fans,

Can anybody tell me if there is an online store that sells vanos gaskets and valve cover gasket kits online. My nearest dealer is 50km's away and they are not called stealers for nothing?

Thank you!

Jason.

hey bud,

Vanos gasket , get from the dealer, it's actually like 120 rand

Valve Cover gasket, call and check, it's about 500 ~ 700 from dealer as well...

might not be your worst option

When I got a quote from the stealers in menlyn they wanted R8??.00 for the valve cover gasket. Got from G-drive for half that and its a quality one, not a "cheapy" or "knock-off"

Not sure where u reside, but perhaps give G-drive a call in JHB and see if they could ship to you?

[email protected]
Telephone: 0027 (0) 11 024 7483

This is my experience, not sure if there are any other suppliers or folk on the forum I have not considered. (Apologies in advance)

That's awesome, thank you I will give them a call. I know, I try to avoid the stealers if possible because they are such a rip off. If I can buy the same thing elsewhere for a fraction of the price, I would be stupid not too. (Presuming quality is the same of course).

Thanks a mil.

After all the work and expense you have gone to thus, don't undo all the good work by trying to save a few pennies.

I would suggest call another dealer and ask for discount and then use a courier perhaps.

Out interest what have you done that cost 6.5k?

Fair enough, well after shopping around G-Drive's valve cover gasket set costs R398. A BMW joburg dealer could give me discount so I paid just over R500 for all the gaskets, oil hose washers, and vanos piston bolts. And strangely enough the guy said he was coming through to Potchefstroom this weekend so he was prepared to deliver it to me at no extra cost so big bonus there. (Excellent service there by the way, (Autobahn Isando BMW, ask for Deago). Well, full service plugs filters etc, new door window mechanism, oil level sensor, pdc sensor, outside temp sensor and trim ( rock or something must have ripped it off), new vanos seals and rattle kit from the states.

So ja, that's why I'm trying to save a buck or two. :biglol:

Thanks!:ty:

Thanks for the tip on Isando BMW.

Daly BMW in Klerksdorp also deliver daily (no pun intended) to Potchefstroom. and their service is quite good. Next time you could perhaps ask for discount. By the way, there work/used to work a Diego at Daly Klerksdorp - perhaps it's the same guy.

What did the PDC sensor cost? I still need to sort mine out at some time.

Funny you should mention that, I used to be the sales manager at Daly but the new DP and I weren't really best of friends so I moved on and decided not to support them anymore. You are right, it is the same Deago. I heard he moved to Joburg so I tracked him down.

It's a small world indeed, thanks for the advice bud! :ty:

Sorry I forgot to mention, the PDC sensor. BMW quoted just over a grand if I remember correctly, but I ended up getting a second hand one from Bemow spares for R250. Bit of a PITA to replace if you are by yourself because you need to take the bumper off, but I did it fairly quick after work.

Thanks. It's on my to-do list but I have more important stuff to do first.
Feel free to drop me a PM if you need a hand with your car.
