Anyone ever replaced their E46 valve cover gasket? This morning I noticed a slight burning oil smell after driving for about 10 mins. I popped the hood while it was still hot and noticed a bit of smoke coming from the manifold (near the firewall).
Anyway, after the car cooled down a bit I took of the engine cover and noticed a bit of oil around the valve cover gasket (where the coils plug in, but only on the rear two). It was very little, but obviously this looked like the source of the oil leak that fell onto the manifold causing it to burn off. The rest of the engine seemed fine - no oil anywhere.
I did a bit of Googling and it seems that the valve cover gasket leak is a common issue on older cars.
So did anyone replace their's recently. If yes, how much was it? Will most probably take the car in to Tunetech this week in any case, but just wondering how much I'm gonna be in for.
