e46 touring

im thinking of getting a touring as a second car...

so far i have found they come with these engines:

2.0 4cyl 318
2.2 6cyl 320
2.5 6cyl 325
3.0 6 cyl 330

2.0 4cyl diesel 318d
2.0 4cyl diesel 320d
3.0 6cyl diesel 330d

im thinking of a 325i or 320d... it does not have to be fast, but i dont want to be annoyed every time i drive it

it will be mainly driven by my GF but i will use it when i have to lug something too big to fit in my car...

any advise from touring owners?

As far as i know, we only had the 318i and the 325i in SA

damn i was toying with the idea of a diesel i guess the only choice is the 325i then... there dont seem to be many of them

the only problem with the e39 is its heavy so ill have to get a 530i im guessing it will eat a bit more fuel also...

Saw actually a reasonably nice looking 325i Touring during my E46 hunting around. Yep, as far as I know, locally we only had the 318i and 325i models - friend of mine was looking for a 325i Touring and said that the biggest problem was that most were used as Mom's Taxi, so lots of wear on the soft touch plastics...

Avoid the N42 engine please.

I have a contact for a neat 318 touring up here in jhb.. plenty of them found actually.

im not so keen on a 4cyl there is no real rush so i can spend time looking... the nice thing about getting an e46 is i should have plenty of spares laying around

if i remeber correctly there is a 300kg difference in weight between the e46 touring and e39 touring

Nothing wrong with gopher. 4 cyl n46b20 engine. Mail me and ask questions. I have seen 320d around.
Petrol consumption is perhaps better on the smaller engine. I have had gopher up to 200. and you have seen my on the skidpan with it. If for GF i would say get gopher. parts cheap and a bump here or there no biggie.
