Howsit

My latest addition (2000 320d) doesn't get up to temp and only sits just above cold in the mornings

So i need to replace the thermostat, any where else beside R1200 plus at the agents i can look at or not really recommended?

Any other reason why it wont get up to temp?

Cheers

If you are Pretoria based, then try

Bemow 012 327 0763 in Pretoria west, or try GOLDWAGEN branches.

Deadsure they will be cheaper then the stealers :RedNo: , :sorry: dealers :roflol:

Already called Spa on spares - R285 but its not oem and id rather not mess with the cooling system by putting inferior parts in.

R1200 is a little absurd though

Thanks for the contact details

I say agents one is best. The Goldwagen one lasted just 20000km on mine.
Not sure if the make though.

Ok,
WRT the thermostat change, anything specific to look out for? coolant los etc?

I would imagine i need to get coolant as well to top up, castrol coolant fine?

Use the same coolant as what's currently in the system or do a full flush with BMW coolant.

On the 330d I also got a Behr from Goldwagen. Was more like R670 but it was the same as the OEM one I bought for the other 330d. Both still running fine.

Get the original blue coolaid from BMW though. Keeps the inside of the motor nice and clean and lubed.

Correct the units were identical appart form a few digits being shaved off, it was a Behr.

Also paid R610, goldwagen Southdale

Ok so the old thermostat's retention clips were broken and i have no idea where the are. i lost a lot of fluid whilst changing it but luckily i had bought 2lt (4lt mixed) filled up, turned the heater on full and started the car, let it settle the added more until the bleed valve was pushing fluid out.

The car still doesn't get warm, fluctuates and takes very long to get to operating temp, but pulls much stronger and seems to be much more drive-able so is this then normal behavior?

Should i do a flush? was my bleeding procedure correct? After work today ill check the level again and fill up more if need be.

Seems that there is air in the system. The bleeding procedure is well documented. A quick search should find it. I would rather flush the cooling system and only use BMW coolant.
