Not sure how the explain this, but there is this weird chirping noise coming from the air vents.

When the fans is on the noise comes and goes. Any ideas?

lol ah ok evilsee... sorry bro, im not really sure, hope you get it sorted out though:thumbsup:

Yeah thanks, I remember having this replaced on an e36, except in that case the fan was making a load grinding noise. I think I might just try take it out, clean it up with air compressor, and maybe try lube it with something. I wonder if you can replace the bearings in these things. BMW agents quoted me R1500 for a replacement

I could also try get a second hand one.

Grinding noises would worry me more than chirpy noises.

Maybe your lucky and the fan needs a good clean. Worth a strip and clean considering the replacement cost :dropjaw:

Would recommend dry lubrication instead of grease/oil based lubrication. I use a lube stick intended for computer fan applications. Less messy and the "dry" lube doesnt attract dust like a magnet and create grinding laste lol

Good luck

If it sounds a bit like a Budgie that got stuck in there, then it's the fan bearings. Does it come and go around corners?

Hi Yes like a budgie :)

It was doing it yesterday evening, this morning there was no noise at all. I will be do a fair distance tonight, so Ill have time to see if it happens again.

Im wondering if getting a second hand part is worth it, or just living with it.
